Winstone Pulp International Limited (WPI) produces wood pulp and lumber products from renewable plantation pine at two sites on the central North Island of New Zealand. The Tangiwai Sawmill has recently undergone extensive upgrades to double the production target up to 1,100 m³/day. With approximately 100 employees, this two-line mill includes a bandmill and an Ari small log line followed by a sorter and kilns.
Centrally located midway between Auckland, the largest city, and Wellington, the nation’s capital, the area is on the doorstep of two national parks offering all things outdoors. The local well facilitated communities of Ohakune and Taihape offer a quality lifestyle with excellent educational choices; reasonable real estate and a wide array of sport clubs and community activities.
Reporting directly to WPI’s Chief Executive Officer, the Sawmill Site Manager will be responsible for overall management of performance and achievements including health and safety; output and uptime; financial control; direct report goal setting and team mentoring. The incumbent will implement, develop and maintain processes that maximize business operations while optimizing the efficient and effective use of employees, contractors and resources.
