GreenFirst Forest Products proudly operates in Canadian forests, producing over 500 million fbm of high-quality softwood lumber at four Ontario mills.

GreenFirst has an opportunity for an experienced Superintendent to plan, organize and direct the sawmill and planer mill at the Hearst Division:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Superintendent will:

  • Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, support Health & Safety Program.
  • Lead a motivated, efficient and engaged team of direct reports and provide career development opportunities.
  • Coach and mentor employees to ensure maximum performance.
  • Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union / management / employee relations.
  • Establish the production schedules and coordinate manufacturing operations in cooperation with the various departments to ensure that product quality meets specifications.
  • Optimize use of human resources by promoting good labour relations, sound training, health, safety and environmental practices to maximize efficiency.
  • Keep production schedules up-to-date to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, specifications and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Promote sound management and ensure that training needs of operations are identified and completed.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Successful career at a Superintendent or General Supervisor level in modern sawmill operations.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field to wood products manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in English. Bilingual in French is a significant asset.
